Eid is celebrated with gusto on Duke's campus; it's a good thing there are two of them! Both Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha celebrate the ends of two historic sufferings. These transitions allow Muslims to reflect on Allah's (S) many gifts (even those that now seem like challenges). For more information about historical and religious importances of Eid, please click here. On the occasions of Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha, a bus service is provided for the transportation needs of all those interested in attending the Eid prayer with the Triangle Muslim community. After prayer, students enjoy Eid brunch and various celebratory Eid events are organized. Please note that missing class for a religious observance is an excused absence. The full policy and required forms for an excused absence are available online. As a courtesy, please also be sure to notify your professors of your expected absence as soon as possible.
