Tues, 3/26, 7 pm, Divinity School Basement 0016: "Leggo my Ego: Self-Interest within Society"
The Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him, says controlling the nafs ("ego") is the best form of Jihad ("struggle"). But how do we control our ego when we interact with society? How do we make rational decisions that increase our happiness without compromising the happiness of others?
Aatif Abdul-Qadeer, Youth Director for the Islamic Association of Raleigh, will be speaking on this topic and

Calligraphy Night
Join Professor Muhammad Habib for an exciting and interactive lesson on how to compose Arabic Calligraphy. Cookies and drinks will be served iA.
Wed, 3/27, 12:30 pm, Women's Center Lower Lounge: Interactive event with Maria Ebrahimji, author of "I Speak for Myself: American Women on Being Muslim."
Maria Ebrahimji is a journalist and executive editorial producer for CNN. She is also one of the editors of the I Speak for Myself series of books which includes one on Muslim women, one on Muslim men and one on youth involved with the Arab Spring revolutions.

Thurs, 3/28, 7:30 pm, 2nd floor of Lilly Library: "Expressing Faith: Islam Inspired Art"
An art exhibit with calligraphy and paintings by Dr. Huda Totonji of Harvard University as well as glass sculptures by Christian Minister Andrew Kosorok who was inspired by the 99 Names of Allah will be on display until April 17 in Lilly Library. The exhibit will be complemented with alecture on Islamic art by Professor Carl Ernst from UNC.

The conclusion to IAW will be a night of entertainment featuring Grammy award nominated Ms. Latifah and other amazing local artists. If you would like to perform a rap, spoken word piece, or poetry, register HERE! Refreshments will be served iA.
